Act 1 Scene 2

Place: The streets of Verona

Time: In the afternoon

Characters: Romeo, Capulet, Paris, Servant, Benvolio

Events: Paris attempts to convince Capulet to let him marry his daughter, Juliet. Capulet tells Paris to come to a party that night and make Juliet like him. Capulet sends out his illiterate servant with invitations to the party as he cannot read his asks a random man on the street to read it, who turns out to be Romeo. Romeo sees the love of his life Roslyn on the invites list and decides he will come.

Quote: “Now I’ll tell you without asking. My master is the great rich Capulet, and if you be not of the house of Montagues, I pray come and crush a cup of wine. Rest you merry!”
