In the film Gattaca, Andrew Nichol illustrates a world where genetic selection is the normal, and people that were born naturally have a disadvantage in society. The idea of ambition is shown through the character Vincent, who was born without going through the genetic selection process. Vincent wants to become an astronaut, which is a occupation that is only done by genetically selected humans. He shows ambition by taking a fake identity to get his dream job. To fit this identity, he gets fake skin cells, blood, hair, and he even got his legs extended to fit the requirements for his fake identity. This shows that he is very ambitious and will do anything to achieve his goals.
